GlenMartin celebrated its 90th anniversary on Oct. 23 and 24 by making a special donation to Boonville Makes the Grade.
Employees at GlenMartin raised nearly $500 in cash and school supplies; the team at GlenMartin collected over 500 school supplies for the local charity Boonville Makes the Grade, which provides school supplies for students in need in the Boonville area.
“Celebrating our 90 th and recognizing a local charity that is helping students in our own community are two great achievements,” said Sandra Martin, president of GlenMartin. “I was really proud of each and every employee in taking part in this exciting event; we had a fun two days.”
GlenMartin employees participated Thursday in a Chili Cook-Off. Simone Barroso was the winner of the event and received $100.
On Friday, representatives from the Boonville School District, Joyce Schuster and Patti Ehlers, were present, along with Boonville Makes the Grade founder Theresa Krebs to receive the donation.
“GlenMartin’s donation to Boonville Makes the Grade validates our belief that local employers realize the importance of an educated work force and the value of supporting the work that our schools do,” said Krebs. “This is one way to make sure each student has the materials they need to be successful in their educational pursuits. We are grateful for GlenMartin’s generous support of this important program.”
“We were very excited and pleased to receive the school supplies from GlenMartin,” said Joyce Schuster, curriculum coordinator for Boonville School District. “These supplies will benefit a number of children in the Boonville School District. The employees of GlenMartin certainly made a commitment to this endeavor and to education. We are grateful to have such partners in this community.”
In 1918 W.C. Martin started a black smith shop that today has evolved into a leader in the designing, manufacturing and installing of telecommunication towers.
